ABBATH is a Norwegian black metal project led by Olve Eikemo, best known as the former frontman of the influential band Immortal. Formed in 2015 following his departure from Immortal, ABBATH continues his signature style of frostbitten riffs, mid-tempo heaviness, and a more rock-forward approach to traditional black metal. The project debuted with the self-titled album Abbath (2016), followed by Outstrider (2019) and Dread Reaver (2022). While rooted in black metal aesthetics and imagery, ABBATH’s music often incorporates classic heavy metal influences, creating a more accessible but still aggressive sound. Known for his iconic corpse paint and larger-than-life stage presence, Abbath remains one of the most recognisable figures in extreme metal, with ABBATH serving as both a continuation and evolution of his legacy in the genre.
