Afrosound is a pioneering Colombian tropical music group formed in 1973 under the Discos Fuentes label. Created by producer Julio Ernesto Estrada ("Fruko"), the band became one of Latin America's most influential instrumental ensembles by blending traditional Colombian rhythms with psychedelic rock, funk, and electric guitar-driven arrangements. Best known for classics such as "La Danza de los Mirlos," "Agüita'e Coco," and "Mar de Emociones," Afrosound helped popularize modern cumbia while incorporating porro, salsa, and other Afro-Latin styles. Their innovative fusion of tropical and contemporary sounds has made them a lasting influence on generations of Latin musicians and dance music enthusiasts.
