Alex Karbouris (known professionally as Alex K) is an Australian DJ, music producer, singer, and songwriter from Sydney, born 29 November 1979. He is recognised as one of Australia’s most successful hard dance and NRG (Energy) music artists and a key figure in the development of the UK–Australian commercial hard dance scene. He first gained attention in the mid-1990s through radio and megamix work on stations such as Wild FM, before signing with Central Station Records at a young age. He later became widely known for his influential “Kickin Hard” and “Ultimate NRG” compilation series, which helped define the energetic, vocal-driven style of NRG music popular in clubs across Australia and the UK. Throughout his career, Alex K has released numerous compilation albums and singles, achieved chart success in Australia and the UK, and sold hundreds of thousands of records worldwide. He has also worked as a remixer and producer for a wide range of international pop and dance artists, contributing to his reputation in commercial dance music.
