Apolline is an Australian award-winning neo-traditional folk trio based in Melbourne (Naarm), known for their intricate arrangements, high-energy performances, and genre-blending approach to folk music. The group consists of Tess Hickey (cello/vocals), Luisa Hickey (fiddle/mandolin/vocals), and Laura Heaney (double bass/vocals). Their music draws heavily from Celtic and Australian folk traditions, while also incorporating influences from jazz, Scandinavian folk, and even video game soundtracks, creating a distinctive and modern “neo-trad” sound. Their repertoire ranges from fast-paced traditional dance tunes to slow, atmospheric pieces and original compositions. Apolline formed through the Melbourne folk and school music scene and made their festival debut at major Australian folk events before gaining wider recognition, including awards such as Youth Artist of the Year at the Australian Folk Music Awards (2024). They released their debut EP *Home Home* (2023), which showcases their blend of traditional, contemporary, and original folk music.
