Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) is an American heavy metal band formed in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California. The band is known for its blend of heavy metal, metalcore, hard rock, alternative metal, and progressive metal, combining aggressive guitar work with melodic vocals and elaborate songwriting. The current lineup consists of M. Shadows (vocals), Synyster Gates (lead guitar), Zacky Vengeance (rhythm guitar), Johnny Christ (bass), and Brooks Wackerman (drums). Their breakthrough came with City of Evil (2005), followed by major albums including Avenged Sevenfold (2007), Nightmare (2010), Hail to the King (2013), The Stage (2016), and Life Is But a Dream... (2023). Avenged Sevenfold are recognized for their high-energy live performances, international touring, and major festival appearances.
