Bear’s Den are a British indie folk and alternative country band formed in London in 2009 by Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones. Known for their emotionally charged songwriting and rich acoustic textures, the duo gained international attention with their debut album Islands (2014), which featured the breakout single “Above the Clouds of Pompeii”, earning an Ivor Novello Award nomination for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. Their sound evolved across subsequent albums, moving from folk intimacy to expansive arrangements infused with synths and cinematic elements. Red Earth & Pouring Rain (2016) showcased their layered, atmospheric approach, while So That You Might Hear Me (2019) explored themes of memory and connection. Blue Hours (2022) continued this growth, blending organic and electronic instrumentation around reflective, deeply personal lyrics. In 2025, Kevin Jones departed, leaving Andrew Davie as the core creative force. Despite the lineup change, Bear’s Den remain a key fixture in modern British folk, recognized for heartfelt performances, poetic songwriting, and a loyal international fanbase. Their music has been praised for balancing vulnerability and grandeur—offering emotional depth through simple melodies and lush production.
