Binary Finary is a British trance music project (now often based between the UK and Australia) known for pioneering uplifting and progressive trance since the late 1990s. They are best known for the iconic track “1998”, which became one of the defining trance anthems of its era and was heavily remixed by artists like Paul van Dyk and Gouryella. The track’s success led to multiple versions released under different year titles (1998, 1999, 2000). The project was originally formed by Matt Laws and Stuart Matheson, and later evolved into a live/DJ-focused act featuring touring performers, including Australian-based collaborators like Sasha Vatoff. Binary Finary has remained active through live shows, remixes, and modern trance releases, continuing to perform at major global dance events and festivals.
