Codices emerged from the UK underground heavy music scene with a focus on long-form instrumental songwriting. Their compositions blend the weight and intensity of sludge and post-metal with the spacious, melodic approach of post-rock, drawing listeners through evolving arrangements rather than traditional verse-chorus structures. The band has built a reputation through live performances alongside artists in the UK post-metal and experimental rock scenes, appealing to fans of immersive instrumental music.
