Bio
Cool Sounds is a Melbourne‑based indie pop/rock music project led by multi‑instrumentalist Dainis Lacey, known for its vibrant, genre‑shifting sound that blends jangle pop, indie pop, dance‑ready rhythms, funky grooves, and thoughtful songwriting. Originally emerging in the mid‑2010s, Cool Sounds has released several albums — including *Dance Moves* (2016), *More To Enjoy* (2019), *Bystander* (2021), and *Like That* — showcasing a musical evolution that nods to 80s pop, surf rock, alt‑country and disco‑funk influences, while maintaining melodic hooks and a breezy indie sensibility. Though primarily driven by Lacey’s creative vision in the studio, Cool Sounds often performs live with a full band (often up to six musicians on stage), bringing its eclectic sound to audiences across Australia and Europe. Their music has received international attention and airplay — including support on BBC 6 Music, Triple J, Double J and various community stations, as well as praise from outlets like *The Guardian* and *NME Australia*. Overall, Cool Sounds is celebrated for its playful, energetic and genre‑fluid approach — blending indie pop charm with rhythmic flair and thoughtful lyrics.
