David Kayode is a London born saxophonist and composer whose project Ade Kayode blends Yoruba rooted rhythm, Afro fusion and contemporary jazz into powerful, immersive live performances driven by groove, improvisation and diasporic storytelling. Raised in North West London, Kayode emerged through the UK’s progressive jazz ecosystem while developing a voice that resists fixed genre. His music moves fluidly between live ensemble performance, ritualistic rhythm, and the energy of the dancefloor, blending horns, drums, electronics and collective improvisation into experiences that feel as much ceremonial as they are kinetic. Beyond traditional jazz spaces, Kayode’s practice connects naturally with club culture, sound system aesthetics and late-night performance environments. His shows prioritise movement, repetition, intensity and release, often blurring the line between concert, jam session and communal gathering. This approach has made his work resonate with audiences across jazz, Afro-fusion, experimental and electronic-adjacent scenes. Kayode is also the founder of Purple Collective, a Manchester-based platform centred on community, collaboration and improvised music culture, with Purple Jam events becoming known for their open, high-energy and cross-genre ethos. His forthcoming debut album Ade Kayode, set for release in 2026, captures this wider vision: music rooted in ancestry but built for the present moment, shaped by travel, collaboration and diasporic exchange. Whether on festival stages, in clubs or unconventional spaces, David Kayode’s performances are driven by rhythm, spirit and a commitment to creating shared, transformative sonic experiences.
