Declan Kelly is an Australian singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist (drums, guitar). He was born in Sydney to an Irish father and a Māori mother, and grew up surrounded by music from a young age. Early in his career, he played in local bands, including The Beefs with Alex Lloyd, and later joined The Bondi Cigars. He’s released several solo albums: Tales From The Neighbourhood (around 2005), Adrift, Views With A Room, and more recently Headlock. His music often explores personal themes, such as masculinity, identity, struggle, isolation, and recovery. He’s also well known for the project Diesel n’Dub, which re-imagines Midnight Oil songs in dub/reggae styles featuring various prominent Australian and Indigenous artists, done partly to raise awareness/funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
