ondon-born and bred, DJ and record collector Dexta has been deeply immersed in the music world since 2001. Originally from North London, he found his spiritual home in South East London in 2010—the same year he established his pioneering record label, Diffrent Music. The label quickly became a hub for experimental and boundary-pushing sounds in electronic music, particularly within the drum and bass and bass music genres. An active electronic musician, producer, and artist, Dexta has a rich portfolio of solo and collaborative works. His creativity extends beyond music, as he documents underground music culture through the Southside Circulars brand. Notable projects include the Icon Catalogue zine series and the Limited Press zine, both of which highlight niche and emerging facets of the music world. Dexta’s contributions to the underground dance music scene don’t stop there. He is the co-founder of 1-800-Dubplate, a dubplate cutting house that has become a cornerstone for vinyl enthusiasts, and Planet Wax, a record shop based in South East London. These ventures underscore his dedication to championing physical music formats and fostering a thriving community for collectors and DJs.
