Electric Funeral was a pioneering Swiss hard rock and proto-doom metal band formed in the late 1960s by Edi Hirt, Pierrot Wermeille, Alain Christinaz, and Dominique Bourquin. Influenced by bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin, they became known for their extremely loud and heavy live performances, driven by massive Marshall amp stacks and dark, aggressive riffs. Although the band never recorded a formal studio album during their original run, their archival live and rehearsal recordings were later released as The Wild Performance, showcasing a raw, lo-fi sound that helped establish them as an early precursor to doom metal and heavy psychedelic rock.
