Elephant Tree is a London-based heavy psychedelic rock band formed in 2013. The group emerged from the UK's flourishing stoner and doom scene, quickly gaining attention for combining massive, fuzz-driven guitar riffs with melodic songwriting, rich vocal harmonies, and atmospheric textures. Rather than relying solely on the slow, crushing sound typical of doom metal, Elephant Tree developed a style that blends stoner rock, psychedelic rock, progressive influences, and emotionally expressive melodies. The band released its debut EP, Theia, in 2014, introducing listeners to its distinctive mix of weight and melody. This was followed by the full-length album Theia in 2015, an expanded version of the EP that established Elephant Tree as one of the UK's most promising heavy psych acts. Their self-titled second album, Elephant Tree (2016), broadened their audience with a more refined and accessible sound while retaining the band's trademark low-end grooves and immersive atmospheres. In 2020, Elephant Tree released Habits, an album that explored themes of personal struggle, mental health, and self-reflection. Praised for its mature songwriting and dynamic arrangements, Habits further cemented the band's reputation for balancing crushing heaviness with memorable melodies. Throughout their career, Elephant Tree has toured extensively across Europe and performed at major rock and metal festivals, earning acclaim for powerful live performances that seamlessly move between hypnotic psychedelic passages and thunderous, riff-driven climaxes. Today, Elephant Tree is widely regarded as one of the leading bands in the modern heavy psych and stoner rock scene, admired for pushing the boundaries of the genre while remaining rooted in its powerful, groove-oriented foundations.
