Eve (born Eve Jihan Jeffers-Cooper on November 10, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and actress known for her fierce lyricism, confidence, and crossover appeal between hip-hop and pop. She emerged in the late 1990s as part of Ruff Ryders Entertainment, alongside DMX and The LOX, and quickly became one of the most prominent female MCs in hip-hop. Her debut album, Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady (1999), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — a first for a female rapper. Eve is best known for hits like “Who’s That Girl?”, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” (with Gwen Stefani, which won a Grammy), and “Tambourine.” She has also acted in films such as Barbershop and starred in her own sitcom, Eve. Blending hard-hitting rap, R&B melodies, and pop sensibility, Eve remains one of the most versatile and influential women in hip-hop.
