Field Maps is the solo music project of Melbourne-based musician Daniel Moss. The project emerged after Moss’ earlier band work and ongoing involvement in the Melbourne indie scene, including playing guitar with Sunbeam Sound Machine. Field Maps focuses on dreamy, guitar-driven indie music with a strong sense of atmosphere and melody. The sound is often described as pensive and psychedelic, blending indie pop, soft psych, and subtle lo-fi textures with a relaxed but emotionally rich tone. Originally a solo recording project, Field Maps has also evolved into a live band setup, performing with other Melbourne musicians including members connected to Sunbeam Sound Machine and other local indie acts.
