Bio
Funkytown Fish is an indie rock and punk‑leaning band from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Their music is a DIY‑spirited blend of indie rock, punk energy, and catchy melodic hooks, drawing on influences from 1990s riot grrrl and contemporary underground scenes. Formed with a collaborative, self‑producing ethos, the group writes, records, and releases their own music, using creative control to shape their sound and identity. Songs like HYSTERIA and Halfway showcase their punk energy fused with indie rock dynamics and pop‑leaning melodies. Through their work, Funkytown Fish aim to create a welcoming and empowering space within the rock and punk scenes especially for women and queer artists reflecting both their artistic perspective and community values. They’ve released music including the EP Who Are You Living For? (2024) and the full‑length Drowning in Bubbles (2025), demonstrating both evolution in their songwriting and a firm place in Melbourne’s vibrant independent music culture.
