Bio
Gab Hester is a Mornington Peninsula–based Australian singer-songwriter and live acoustic musician. He is known for his warm, gravelly vocals and honest, story-driven songwriting, often performing both original material and reinterpretations of classic rock and indie covers. His style is rooted in live performance, with a strong focus on connecting with audiences in intimate venues across Victoria. He gained wider recognition after appearing on Season 9 of Australian Idol (2024), where he progressed to the Top 27. Since then, he has continued building his live reputation through regular gigs, including performances across the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne, as well as festival and busking stages such as Byron Bay Bluesfest’s busking competition. Musically, his work blends acoustic pop, indie rock, and roots influences, drawing inspiration from artists like Zach Bryan and Ziggy Alberts, and often incorporating guitar-led arrangements with a focus on lyricism and emotional delivery.
