Gareth Liddiard is an Australian musician, vocalist and songwriter best known as the frontman of The Drones and later Tropical Fuck Storm, two of Australia’s most acclaimed alternative rock bands. Renowned for his raw vocal delivery, intense guitar work and stark, poetic lyricism, Liddiard has built a reputation as one of the country’s most distinctive and uncompromising songwriters. With The Drones, he co-created the landmark track “Shark Fin Blues”, which has been repeatedly voted one of the greatest Australian songs of all time. His solo album Strange Tourist (2010) showcased a darker, narrative-driven acoustic style, highlighting his talent for long-form storytelling. Liddiard continues to be a central figure in Australian underground music, influencing generations of alt-rock artists with his fearless creativity and genre-bending approach.
