Girls Against Boys (often abbreviated GVSB) is an American post‑hardcore/alternative rock band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1989, later based in New York. Known for their signature dual‑bass, gritty rhythmic sound and the interplay of vocals and driving grooves, they became influential figures in the ’90s indie rock/post‑hardcore scene, releasing acclaimed albums like Venus Luxure No.1 Baby (1993), Cruise Yourself (1994), FreakonIca (1998), and You Can’t Fight What You Can’t See (2002). GVSB were noted for blending post‑hardcore intensity with experimental and noise‑rock textures, touring internationally and earning a reputation as a distinctive live act. After a hiatus, the band reunited and continues to perform, including an Australian tour in early 2026 celebrating the anniversary of Cruise Yourself.
