Bio
Grand WaZoo is a legendary 13–14-piece soul band from Melbourne, Australia, founded in 1981 by trumpeter, arranger, and bandleader John Montesante. Widely regarded as one of Australia's premier soul ensembles, the band delivers an authentic tribute to classic 1960s and 1970s soul, funk, and R\&B through powerful horn arrangements, dynamic vocal performances, and an extensive repertoire of timeless hits alongside original compositions. Over more than four decades, Grand WaZoo has backed and shared the stage with numerous Australian and international artists, performed at major festivals and corporate events, and earned a reputation as a "Soul Institution" for its exceptional musicianship, energetic live shows, and enduring contribution to Australia's live music scene.
