HELMET is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1989 by vocalist and guitarist Page Hamilton. The band became known for its tight, heavy guitar riffs, precise rhythms, and a sound that helped shape the development of alternative metal and post-hardcore in the 1990s. They gained major recognition with their 1992 album Meantime, which included the influential track “Unsung,” and went on to become one of the defining heavy bands of the era. Helmet has had multiple lineup changes over the years, with Page Hamilton remaining the only constant member, and the band continues to tour and release music in various forms.
