Hockey Dad are a surf rock/indie rock duo from Windang, New South Wales, Australia, formed in 2013 by lifelong friends Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming. Their energetic, sun-soaked guitar rock and jangly melodies reflect their coastal roots and youth spent surfing and skateboarding near the beach. Zach Stephenson (lead vocals & guitar) and Billy Fleming (drums) grew up together on the same street and began playing music together in high school, eventually forming Hockey Dad and releasing their debut EP Dreamin’ in 2014. They quickly gained attention for their catchy surf-influenced sound and raw live energy. Since then, the duo have released several albums including Boronia (2016), Blend Inn (2018), Brain Candy (2020) and Rebuild Repeat (2024), earning a loyal fanbase in Australia and internationally. Their songs blend melodic hooks with upbeat rhythms and laid-back coastal vibes, while live shows showcase their tight chemistry and engaging performance style. Hockey Dad have toured widely, including national and international tours across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, Europe and the UK, and have played at major festivals and venues around the world, establishing themselves as one of Australia’s standout modern rock acts.
