I Hold The Lion's Paw is a Melbourne-based experimental and psychedelic jazz collective led by ARIA-nominated trumpeter and producer Reuben Lewis. Formed in 2016, the group blends free jazz, afro-grooves, ambient electronics, spoken word, improvisation, and psychedelic soundscapes into a genre-defying style influenced by artists such as Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, and Jon Hassell. Their music combines groove-driven experimentation with abstract composition and live improvisation, creating immersive performances that feel both chaotic and deeply cohesive. Over the years, the ensemble has evolved from a rotating collective into a more focused core group while continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary jazz and electro-acoustic music.
