Bio
In Xira is a Melbourne-based experimental music collective formed in 2021 that brings together a diverse group of multi-instrumentalists to create immersive, genre-defying music. Combining traditional instrumentation with modern synthesizers and samplers, the band crafts expansive soundscapes featuring atmospheric synths, delicate guitar work, expressive vocals, brass, and intricate rhythmic arrangements. Their unique lineup includes percussion, electric guitar, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, bass, keyboards, and vocals, reflecting the members' long-standing musical friendships and collaborative chemistry. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Mildlife, Black Country, New Road, Yussef Dayes, Hiatus Kaiyote, Stereolab, and Kamasi Washington, In Xira blends experimental rock with acid jazz, ambient textures, and progressive influences to produce an eclectic and emotionally rich sound. Their music emphasizes improvisation, lush sonic landscapes, and adventurous compositions, establishing them as an emerging force in Melbourne's contemporary experimental music scene.
