Bio
Invent Animate is an American progressive metalcore band formed in Port Neches, Texas in 2011. The band gained recognition within the modern metalcore and djent scene through their atmospheric sound, technical guitar work, ambient textures, and emotionally driven songwriting. Originally fronted by vocalist Ben English and later joined by Swedish vocalist Marcus Vik, the band has become one of the standout acts in contemporary progressive metalcore. They first built momentum with their independently released EP Waves (2012) before signing with Tragic Hero Records and releasing their debut album Everchanger in 2014. The band continued evolving through acclaimed releases such as Stillworld (2016), Greyview (2020), and Heavener (2023), developing a sound that combines heavy breakdowns, ambient soundscapes, melodic passages, and intricate djent-inspired riffing. Invent Animate is widely praised for balancing technical musicianship with emotional atmosphere, often drawing comparisons to bands such as ERRA, Northlane, and Silent Planet. Their music incorporates screamed vocals, melodic clean singing, progressive structures, and cinematic production, helping establish them as one of the leading modern progressive metalcore bands of the 2010s and 2020s.
