Iron & Wine is the musical project of American singer-songwriter Sam Beam, known for his warm vocals, poetic storytelling, and atmospheric folk sound. Emerging in the early 2000s, Beam first gained attention with his home-recorded debut album The Creek Drank the Cradle (2002), which showcased a quiet, lo-fi style built around acoustic guitar, banjo, and intimate vocals. Over the years, Iron & Wine evolved from sparse solo recordings into richer, full-band arrangements that incorporate elements of folk, indie rock, and Americana. Beam’s songwriting is widely praised for its vivid imagery and emotional depth, often exploring themes of love, memory, spirituality, and the American South. Iron & Wine has released multiple studio albums, EPs, and collaborations with artists such as Calexico and Jesca Hoop, and continues to tour internationally, including recent tour dates supporting new releases like the 2026 album Hen’s Teeth.
