Jack Ladder is the stage name of Australian musician and singer-songwriter Timothy Kenneth Rogers, born on 6 April 1983 in Sydney. Known for his rich baritone voice and darkly humorous lyricism, his music blends elements of rock, art pop, and new wave, often exploring themes of love, loss, and self-reflection. Ladder debuted with Not Worth Waiting For in 2005, followed by Love Is Gone (2008), which was shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize. His 2011 release Hurtsville, recorded with his long-time backing band The Dreamlanders (featuring Kirin J. Callinan, Donny Benét, and Laurence Pike), earned critical acclaim and marked his signature noir-infused sound. Later albums like Playmates (2014), Blue Poles (2018), and Hijack! (2021) showcased his evolving artistry, combining dark humour with cinematic soundscapes. In 2023, he released Tall Pop Syndrome and announced Separation Rock (set for October 2025), continuing his reputation for thoughtful reinvention. Ladder has also collaborated with artists such as Alex Cameron and contributed to several film and TV soundtracks, cementing his status as one of Australia’s most distinctive alternative voices.
