Bio
Katchafire is a Māori reggae band formed in 1997 in Hamilton, New Zealand. Originally created as a Bob Marley tribute band, they evolved into one of the most internationally recognised Pacific reggae acts. Their sound blends classic roots reggae with elements of dub, funk, and smooth R&B influences, resulting in warm, uplifting, harmony-rich grooves. Across their career, Katchafire have released multiple successful albums, including Revival (2003), Say What You’re Thinking (2007), and Legacy (2018), achieving platinum sales in New Zealand and building a strong global fan base. They have toured extensively throughout the Pacific, Australia, the USA, South America and Europe, earning a reputation for high-energy live shows and soulful, unifying reggae music.
