Kiwat Kennell, a proud Eastern Torres Strait Islander from the islands of Ugar (Stephens) and Erub (Darnley), grew up in a world of contrasts. Raised by a parent in law enforcement, he was taught to respect authority while also confronting the injustices Indigenous people face in a divided society. These conflicting experiences deeply inform his music, which reflects his struggles with racism, identity, and mental health.
