KOBRA 3000, the alias of Carlo Xavier, is a Melbourne-based DJ, producer, record collector and curator with almost two decades of experience. His sets explore high-energy global dance music, drawing on complex rhythms and influences from Brazil, Colombia and Lusophone music. He is a key member of El Gran Mono, Melbourne's Colombian picó sound system, and has performed at events including WOMADelaide, Rising, Vivid and Spilt Milk. He has also curated releases for the cult label Analog Africa and collaborates with Colombian vocalist Kaimán Jiménez as The Wild Ones, creating music influenced by Colombian Caribbean rhythms and champeta.
