Bio
Lil Jon (born Jonathan Henry Smith on January 17, 1971, in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American rapper, producer, and DJ widely credited as one of the pioneers of the crunk movement — a high-energy, club-driven subgenre of Southern hip-hop. He first rose to fame as the frontman of Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, delivering hit anthems like “Get Low,” “Yeah!” (with Usher & Ludacris), and “Snap Yo Fingers.” His energetic production style, signature ad-libs (“Yeah!”, “Okay!”, “What?!”), and booming bass lines helped define early-2000s hip-hop and club music. Beyond rap, Lil Jon has collaborated with artists across genres — from Pitbull and DJ Snake to Steve Aoki — blending hip-hop, EDM, and Latin influences, and cementing his status as a global party-music icon.
