Lil Supa (real name Marlon Luis Morales Santana, born August 8, 1985, in Caracas, Venezuela) is a rapper, producer, graffiti artist, and visual creative regarded as one of Latin America’s most influential voices in contemporary hip hop. With a career spanning over two decades, he has helped define the Venezuelan hip hop scene, blending old-school lyricism, Latin street culture, and forward-thinking production. Beginning his career in the late 1990s as part of the underground crews Niggaz Feel Da’ Hood and Supremacy Hip Hop Clan, Lil Supa built his reputation through street rap battles and collaborations across Venezuela’s growing hip hop movement. By the early 2000s, he co-founded VinilH Records, a creative collective that fused music, graffiti, and visual design. His connection to the Bas.y.Co (Base y Contenido) and FUNDaMENTORS crews further solidified his role as a cultural leader and innovator in the regional scene. In 2008, Lil Supa teamed up with the late Canserbero to form CAN+ZOO, releasing Índigos — a project considered a cornerstone of Latin underground hip hop. His solo career took off with SenciLLo (2011) and Claro (2012), showcasing introspective lyricism and raw Venezuelan realism. His critically acclaimed album Serio (2017) marked a turning point, merging classic boom-bap with cinematic trap aesthetics and complex storytelling. The record earned international attention, followed by tours across Latin America and Europe. Lil Supa’s creative alter ego “Fresco” also emerged during this era, representing his multidisciplinary side — blending music, photography, film, and design. He continued to evolve with NEØN (2020), Funky Fresco (2020) (with fellow Venezuelan rapper Akapellah), and YEYO (2022), exploring futuristic and abstract hip hop textures. In 2023, he co-created the Venezuelan national football team anthem “Nunca Menos” with Akapellah, and released the collaborative project METAL with producers 3m5 and Nichess One. His 2024 album ÍCONOS further cemented his position as one of the region’s most respected artists. Lil Supa’s style is defined by poetic realism, dense wordplay, and a cinematic sensibility that merges music, visual storytelling, and identity. He is ranked #17 in Rolling Stone’s 50 Greatest Spanish-Language Rappers (2023) and remains a cultural icon representing Venezuelan hip hop on the global stage.
