Bio
MACHUKHA is a Ukrainian folk metal band formed in Kyiv in 2022. The group was founded during the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the goal of preserving and reinterpreting Ukrainian musical traditions through modern heavy music. Their name, "Machukha" (Мачуха), is the Ukrainian word for "stepmother," a figure that frequently appears in Ukrainian folklore and fairy tales. The band draws inspiration from these stories, as well as from traditional songs, mythology, and the country's cultural heritage.
