Bio
Magpie Diaries is an Australian alt-country and folk rock band from Maitland, New South Wales. Their music blends alternative Americana, folk rock, and indie country, built around storytelling lyrics, warm acoustic instrumentation, and full-band arrangements featuring pedal steel, harmonies, and roots-influenced grooves. Led by Magpie Johnston, the project draws heavily from rural Australian life and bushland influences, combining reflective songwriting with cinematic, emotionally rich production. Their songs often explore themes of love, family, nature, resilience, and personal history, with a strong sense of place tied to regional Australia. Releases such as *Some Kind of View* showcase their expansive, organic sound recorded in a studio environment surrounded by bushland.
