Bio
Malibu Spacey is a Melbourne/Naarm‑based band whose sound draws deeply from the spirit of ’60s and ’70s rock and folk, blended with classic pop, garage rock, glam and dreamy psychedelic influences. Their music is characterised by 12‑string acoustic guitars, three‑part harmonies, intricate lead guitar lines and noodly bass grooves, creating a rich sonic palette that nods to Laurel Canyon‑era roots while sounding fresh and contemporary. Formed in 2017 with a few lineup changes along the way, Malibu Spacey build songs that explore melodic hooks and harmonic depth, taking inspiration from artists like Angel Olsen, The Lemon Twigs, The Byrds and The Beatles. Their debut studio album *Good in Small Doses* combines folk‑rock, alt‑rock and psych pop elements into a cohesive and engaging set of songs. Originating from Melbourne’s vibrant indie scene, Malibu Spacey have earned attention for both their recorded work and their dynamic live performances, bridging decades of rock and folk tradition with a modern sensibility.
