Miya Zawa is an Australian alt-pop project based in Canberra, led by Sara Flint and Tom Brereton, who previously performed as Apricot Ink. In 2024, the duo rebranded as Miya Zawa, marking a new chapter in their musical journey with a focus on playful, experimental alt-pop infused with folk and dub influences. Their debut single “So Sick” was released via Sureshaker, introducing a bedroom-pop aesthetic and heartfelt songwriting. This was followed by “Like Damn (whoa)” in 2025, which drew acclaim for its sparkling, confessional pop textures and themes of longing and emotional vulnerability. Their sound is described as warm, chimey, and intimate, weaving together indie, folk, and experimental pop elements with infectious hooks. The project has quickly garnered attention from tastemakers and indie publications such as Where the Music Meets, York Calling, and Bong Mines Entertainment. Miya Zawa’s upcoming releases, including the anticipated “Giddy Giggles” single and performances, further establish them as one of Australia’s promising new alt-pop acts.
