Mortal Sin is a pioneering **Australian thrash metal** band formed in **Sydney, New South Wales** in **1985**. They are widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in Australia’s heavy metal history and were among the country’s first bands to successfully blend speed, aggression, and technical proficiency in a way that rivaled the American and European thrash scenes. Mortal Sin first gained attention with their debut EP *Mayhemic Destruction* (1986) and followed with the seminal album *Mayhemic Destruction* (1987), which became an underground metal classic and helped establish the band’s reputation internationally. Over the years they toured extensively, sharing stages with notable international metal acts and opening doors for other Australian metal bands on the global stage. The band experienced several lineup changes and periods of hiatus, but continued to release music, including *Face of Despair* (1989) and *Every Dog Has Its Day* (2010), maintaining a loyal fanbase through their ferocious live shows and uncompromising metal sound.
