Nikki Lane (born Nicole Lane Frady, October 17, 1983, in Greenville, South Carolina) is an American singer-songwriter and musician often called the “First Lady of Outlaw Country.” Originally working in fashion, she turned to music after a breakup in New York City spurred her songwriting. Relocating to Nashville, she built a career blending outlaw country, Americana, and rock influences, while also running her own vintage boutique, High Class Hillbilly. Her debut album Walk of Shame (2011) established her as a fresh voice in country music. She gained wider attention with All or Nothin’ (2014), produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, and followed with Highway Queen (2017). Her fourth album, Denim & Diamonds (2022), produced by Queens of the Stone Age’s Joshua Homme, expanded her sound into harder-edged rock while retaining her country roots. Lane has collaborated with artists such as Lana Del Rey (Breaking Up Slowly, 2021) and Dropkick Murphys (Never Get Drunk No More, 2022). Known for her bold songwriting, retro-country flair, and entrepreneurial spirit, she continues to redefine the boundaries of Americana and country-rock.
