NO CIGAR are a five-piece indie rock band from Auckland, New Zealand, formed in 2019. Known for their laid-back grooves, melodic guitars, and soulful vocal harmonies, the band blend surf rock and psychedelia into their energetic live shows and chilled studio sound. Their debut album Bienvenido (2021) introduced a distinctive blend of coastal indie tones and vibrant storytelling. They followed with The Great Escape (2023), which charted in the New Zealand Top 20 and remained there for over a year, establishing the group as one of Aotearoa’s leading modern indie acts. Their sound has drawn comparisons to Ocean Alley and Lime Cordiale, yet remains uniquely New Zealand in its lyrical honesty and sun-drenched atmosphere. In 2025, NO CIGAR released their third studio album Under The Surface, featuring the single “Clean,” described as their most dynamic and mature work to date—balancing heavier guitar-driven tracks with reflective, acoustic moments. The band continues to tour extensively across New Zealand and Australia, captivating audiences with their tight musicianship and coastal-inspired energy.
