Now Always Fades is a Melbourne‑based music project led by songwriter, producer, multi‑instrumentalist and mix engineer Xavier Bacash. The project debuted with the full‑length album Into The Doldrums in 2025, marking a new creative chapter for Bacash after releasing previous work under his Sonny Ism alias. Into The Doldrums blends melancholic electronic soundscapes with live instrumentation and collaborations, creating a moody, immersive musical world. Recorded after Bacash returned to Australia following years overseas, the album features contributions from Melbourne vocalists Lili Hall and Tilly Vickers‑Willis and explores themes of reflection, emotional complexity, and sonic nostalgia. Stylistically, the music is influenced by artists like Massive Attack, The Durutti Column, and Everything But The Girl, bridging downtempo, trip‑hop, post‑punk and synth‑pop textures. Now Always Fades has been recognised in local music circles, including features on community radio and arts platforms, as part of the evolving Melbourne electronic/ambient scene.
