Onslaught are a legendary thrash metal band from Bristol, England, formed in 1982 by guitarist Nige Rockett and drummer Steve Grice. Originally rooted in the UK hardcore punk scene, the band evolved into one of the most influential acts in the British thrash movement. Their debut album Power from Hell (1985) established their raw, aggressive sound, followed by the acclaimed The Force (1986) — often cited as one of the defining records of 1980s UK thrash. With vocalist Sy Keeler, Onslaught gained international recognition for their speed, intensity, and politically charged lyrics. The band briefly disbanded in the early 1990s after releasing In Search of Sanity (1989) but reformed in 2005, reasserting themselves with albums such as Killing Peace (2007), VI (2013), and Generation Antichrist (2020). In 2025, they remain an active touring and recording force, celebrated for their uncompromising sound and contribution to the global thrash metal legacy.
