Pavlov’s Dog are an American progressive rock institution, formed in 1972 and led by the unmistakable vocals of David Surkamp. Their sound defies genre — a fusion of symphonic rock, folk, and art-rock storytelling. After early acclaim for Pampered Menial (1975) and At the Sound of the Bell (1976), the band toured with ELO, Kraftwerk, and Aerosmith, achieving cult status even as radio struggled to define them. Following a hiatus, Surkamp revived the group in the 2000s, reigniting global interest and releasing new material to critical praise. Half a century later, Pavlov’s Dog continue to mesmerize with their theatrical live performances and timeless compositions — now embarking on their first-ever Australian tour.
