Pinch Points are a Melbourne-based post-punk band who emerged from the local underground scene in 2018. Their early releases quickly gained attention, with their debut EP Mechanical Injury being named one of Bandcamp’s “Best 100 Releases of 2018.” They later followed up with their debut album Moving Parts, which helped establish them as one of Australia’s most exciting new punk acts. The band has been described as “the sharpest new band in the country,” known for their urgent, angular sound that draws from post-punk and indie rock. They’ve built a strong reputation through high-energy live shows and have toured with and supported acts like Tropical Fuck Storm, Amyl and the Sniffers, Kikagaku Moyo, and Viagra Boys. They also opened the Golden Plains festival in 2020 to a packed crowd. Pinch Points have been recognized within Australia’s alternative scene, earning Music Victoria’s Best Breakthrough Act in 2020, and are often compared to bands like IDLES, Devo, and Eddy Current Suppression Ring in terms of sound and energy.
