Peter Lawlor, the Kilkenny-born DJ and producer who operates under the moniker Polytunnel, crafts an intricate tapestry of sound that defies easy classification. Rooted in a love for melodic electro and breakbeat-infused acid, his music has emerged as a meeting point for influences, seamlessly blending textures that resonate across dancefloors and headphones alike. As a figure in Ireland's electronic music scene, Polytunnel honed his craft as a resident DJ at Dublin's much-loved venue, The Bernard Shaw. Over years spent behind the decks, he shaped a distinct voice within a thriving community, developing a knack for creating sets that marry the cerebral with the visceral. In 2019, Lawlor relocated to Glasgow, a city whose rich underground culture proved fertile ground for his evolution as an artist. That same year marked a pivotal moment with the release of Time 2 Time, his debut 12” on London-based imprint Childsplay. The record introduced a deftly crafted style that caught the attention of leading tastemakers, earning praise from the likes of Mixmag, DJ Mag, Inverted Audio, and XLR8R. Among his supporters was the late, iconic Andrew Weatherall, who championed Polytunnel’s music on his revered NTS show, Music’s Not for Everyone.
