Powerplant started as a bedroom solo project by Ukrainian artist Theo Zhykharyev, eventually expanding into a full live band in London, incorporating members from UK’s hardcore and experimental electronic scenes. Their music blends synth-punk, post-punk, garage-punk, and even dungeon synth — dark, intense, and evolving in sound through their releases. Key releases include People in the Sun LP, A Spine / Evidence EP, and the more recent Stump Soup — an hour-long dungeon synth work. Their live sets are energetic, combining synths, fast live drums, driving bass, gritty guitar, and a visceral, immersive stage presence.
