Bio
Relays is an Australian punk band from Central Victoria known for their raw, irreverent, and high-energy approach to modern DIY punk. Emerging in late 2023, the project quickly built momentum in the Australian underground scene through a series of independently released singles that blend humour, social commentary, and aggressive punk instrumentation. Their music sits firmly in the punk rock tradition, drawing influence from classic hardcore and garage punk acts while maintaining a distinctly contemporary and chaotic edge. Relays are recognised for their unfiltered lyrical style and confrontational themes, often delivered with satire and dark humour. Since forming, the band has gained traction online and within the independent circuit, with their releases collectively reaching tens of thousands of streams. Their sound and attitude have positioned them as part of a new wave of Australian DIY punk acts gaining attention through grassroots platforms like triple j Unearthed. Relays are also noted for their strong DIY ethic, embracing lo-fi production aesthetics and an anti-mainstream approach that aligns with the underground punk ethos.
