Richie Weed is the solo project of Australian musician **Richie Lewis**, best known as the frontman and founding member of Wollongong stoner-rock band Tumbleweed. After more than 30 years with Tumbleweed, Lewis launched Richie Weed as a more personal creative outlet, exploring songs that moved beyond the band’s heavy fuzz-rock sound. His solo material blends alternative rock, psychedelic rock, country-rock, garage rock, and new wave influences, with a strong focus on raw, emotionally honest songwriting. Richie has described the project as a collection of songs that “didn’t suit Tumbleweed,” eventually becoming his debut solo album *Strays* (2024). Recorded live to tape with a backing band including members of The Dandelion, The Pinheads, and Tumbleweed, *Strays* showcases a looser, more reflective side of Lewis’ songwriting while retaining his signature Australian rock energy. Outside Richie Weed, Lewis remains an influential figure in Australian underground rock through projects including Tumbleweed, Hot Rollers, and Richie & the Creeps, and has toured alongside major acts such as Nirvana, Iggy Pop, and Ramones during Tumbleweed’s peak years.
