Rotten Sound is a Finnish grindcore band formed in Vaasa in 1993, widely regarded as one of the most intense and consistent acts in the modern extreme metal scene. Led by founding guitarist Mika Aalto and vocalist Keijo Niinimaa, the band is known for extremely fast, aggressive songwriting that blends grindcore with elements of death metal and hardcore punk. Their music often features blast-beat drumming, short explosive song structures, and politically charged lyrics focused on social issues, violence, and consumer culture. Across more than three decades, Rotten Sound have released multiple influential albums such as Murderworks, Exit, Cycles, and Apocalypse, building a reputation for relentless speed and precision both in the studio and live. They are frequently associated with the Scandinavian grindcore and extreme metal scene alongside bands like Nasum and Napalm Death, and are known for maintaining a consistently brutal, high-intensity sound throughout their career.
