Shallou is the stage name of Joe Boston, a Los Angeles-based American electronic music producer, singer, songwriter and DJ known for his emotive blend of ambient electronic, house-infused pop and chillwave that pairs warm, wistful melodies with soulful vocals. Born in Washington, D.C., Boston grew up influenced by eclectic music, began producing in the mid-2010s, and gained attention with early singles like Heights and Doubt. He released his debut EP All Becomes Okay in 2017 and followed with Souls and other projects before signing to Island Records. His debut album Magical Thinking (2020) further established his ambient, electronic-pop sound, featuring collaborations with artists like Daya and The Knocks. Shallou has played major festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, and his performances often combine live instrumentation with DJ elements to convey both serene and uplifting moods.
